Annual general assembly conducted by WTC Lille
More than 80 attend June 21 gathering

LILLE -- WTC Lille hosted its annual general assembly June 21, attracting more than 80 of the WTC’s 110 members. WTC Membership Manager Estelle Leclercq reviewed some highlights of the 32 international events organized in 2009. These included meetings to brief members and local companies on important topics, as well as business club meetings aimed at sharing experiences and practices.

WTC General Manager Jérôme Toulemonde stressed the importance of the international WTC network, citing for example the visit of a WTC Changzhou delegation interested in textile and automotive industries and a visit by WTC Malmö representatives dealing with green buildings. He also described recent changes in the management of the WTCA.


WTC Lille President Patrick Van Den Schrieck addressed the group on the role of WTC Lille and international organisations affiliated with the WTC to develop a strong and active network to increase global trade.

The Assembly was followed by a presentation and discussion on international trade for SME’s in a crisis, including financial and trade issues. Featured speakers were Mr. Denis Beau of Banque de France and Mr. Jean Jacques Grunspan of Brochot Industries.

“World Trade Celebration 2010” scheduled by WTC Buffalo Niagara
“Driving Growth with a Taste for Trade” will be held October 20
BUFFALO/NIAGARA – John Luther of Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robbins, along with Jim Tetreault of the Ford Motor Company, will be featured speakers at an October 20 program in the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center planned by WTC Buffalo Niagara. The topic is “World Trade Celebration 2010 – Driving Growth with a Taste for Trade.”

On September 9, the WTC will host a seminar on “Enhancing Your Export Finance Strategy,” with speakers from the M&T Bank and other organizations. The seminar will explore the region’s international reach and inform companies about trade finance tools and services to minimize risk. A business roundtable will review best practices in this field from a mix of regional companies.
