A valued member of the WTCA family passed away August 22 in Mexico after kidney complications. Fernando Jimenez Cano, regional coordinator for Latin and South America, had spent the past eight and a half years focused on the growth of the WTCA in this active region. He often referred to himself as an ambassador for this organization he loved, tirelessly extolling the value of joining the WTCA to governments and business owners across Mexico, the Caribbean as well as Central and South America. |

Under his leadership, 27 new World Trade Centers were created, more than 50 were re-activated and hundreds of others supported by utilizing an extensive training program developed to help World Trade Centers make the most of the wealth of resources available to everyone in the community. His signature-training program was also adopted in World Trade Centers outside Latin America.
Prior to joining the WTCA, Fernando spent his career as a civil engineer, contributing his talents to countless projects. Bridges, roads, Mexico City’s subway system and the Olympic Village stand as testimony to his active career in construction. Fernando loved the work he did on behalf of the WTCA. He embodied the brand with his international gravitas and his commitment to trade. Along the way, he made many friends in our community, and he will be sorely missed. Donations in his name can be made to the research hospital, Hospital de las Ciencias de la Nutrición, where he was treated in Mexico City (http://www.innsz.mx/opencms/index.html) either directly or by contacting Fernando’s daughter Monica at MonicaJVila@gmail.com. |
