MUMBAI -- WTC Mumbai, in cooperation with the Indo-Japanese Association in Mumbai, the All India Association of Industries (AIAI), the consulate general of Japan in Mumbai and the Indian Merchants' Chamber, conducted the Third Seminar on US $90 billion Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Project (DMIC) at the WTC August 14, 2010. An impressive list of speakers addressed the seminar, including Mr. Amitabh Kant of the DMIC Development Corporation Ltd., Dr. Kshatrapati Shivaji of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, Hon. Tamon Mochida, consul general of Japan in Mumbai and Mr. Minoo Shroff, economist and past president of the Indo-Japanese Association. The goal of the seminar was to spread awareness about this historic project encompassing an area of 1,500 kms in length and 300 kms in breadth. Nearly 150 participants were briefed on the project’s status and interacted with key DMIC officials.
The WTC and AIAI organized a meeting for about 100 WTC members August 3 with Mr. Henry Richard from India’s Ministry of Corporate Affairs. |

Mr. Richard explained the new Ministry programs that were launched in May 2010. Mr. Vijay Kalantri, WTC vice chairman and president, AIAI, lauded the new programs and suggested that Mr. Richard’s office should become a facilitator between the trade industry and the department.
An Iran Tourism Promotion Office was inaugurated in CenterPoint, the Business Centre of WTC Mumbai, August 27, 2010. The event was organized by the Office of the Consulate General of Iran in Mumbai and was supported by the WTC and AIAI.
